People used to make their own butter. Now, we have forgotten. The family and I spend the day in the historic Montana homestead cabin trying to re-learn lost knowledge--by making a batch of homemade butter and buttermilk. With those ingredients in hand, we can make a classic Irish soda bread and savory lamb chops in a butter sauce. Assuming, of course, all goes well... which spoiler alert: it doesn't. The blustery spring day turns into a cooking marathon. Thanks to our neighbors @406regen for beautiful lamb chops! Raised on their regenerative Montana ranch. Join us for this culinary adventure! MONTANA IRISH SODA BREAD 2 cups all purpose flour 2 cups Rouge de Bordeaux whole wheat 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 2 TBS molasses *Mix all together. Shape into a loaf. Score with a cross. Bake on parchment in a dutch oven at 425 for 20 min. Continue baking at 375 for 20 min. Cool slightly.
