In this video I share how to EQ guitar for metal. I demo this by using a GUP Tech parametric equalizer in the effects loop of my EVH 5150 III 50w Stealth head. This is the GUP Tech pPTSD EQ prototype. EQs in the loop of your amp is a great and effective way to shape the tone of your high gain amp. There are lots of frequencies you might want to target to either boost or cut, especially if you are creating a tone that will cut and sit nicely in a mix. I know there are some players out there that have stayed away from Parametric EQs, but fear not they really aren't that intimidating or complicated once you understand how they work.
