India has many remote and beautiful places, but there are very few locations where you truly feel like you have reached the edge of the country. In the far eastern mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, there are a few villages that lie in the easternmost part of India. Among them is Dong village, a place famous for witnessing the first sunrise in India. But this journey is not just about the sunrise. Follow me on Instagram: / sirfsomesh If you plan to visit Dong Village and want a local guide for the sunrise trek, you can contact Dala Bhaiya. Guide & Homestay Contact: Dala Bhaiya – +918131859247 Dong Village, Arunachal Pradesh In this documentary, we explore the remote villages along the Lohit River, a powerful river that flows all the way from Tibet before entering India. These villages lie just a few kilometers away from the India–China border and not very far from Myanmar. To understand what life near the border really feels like, I stayed with a local family in their traditional wooden house in Sapkung village. Living with Dala Bhaiya and his family, we explore the region together — visiting hidden places like the mysterious Dapti Waterfalls, crossing bridges over the Lohit River, and discovering remote villages like Kibithoo and Kaho, which are among the easternmost inhabited places in India. From learning about traditional lifestyles and wooden earthquake-resistant homes to drinking butter tea, visiting the easternmost café of India, and meeting people who worship nature, this journey reveals a completely different side of life in India. The highlight of the journey is trekking before dawn to witness the first sunrise of India in Dong village, where the first rays of sunlight touch the country every morning. Later, we experience a peaceful slow life in the valley — fishing in the Lohit River with Dala Bhaiya and sharing a home-cooked meal with the family. This film is about life at the edge of India, where the mountains are remote, the villages are small, but the warmth of the people is incredibly big. #ArunachalPradesh #EasternmostIndia #IndiaChinaBorder #FirstSunriseInIndia #NortheastIndia
