In order to help and protect her, Sonic trains Hinata in battle so that next time she can protect herself. She trains hard and proves herself to Sonic. However, soon Sonic is the one in trouble, and Hinata has to protect him. With her training and the power of their love, she is willing to risk it all, even death – but Sonic even in his weakened state knows that Hinata won't be able to survive such a task — so he sacrifices everything to save her. . . . at least that's my interpretation! ◡ feel free to come up with your own!
