Photos and details: https://jakewildwood.blogspot.com/202... Just for fun, this is an “as-is” instrument demo. It’s a 1913 Weymann “Mandolute” mandocello made in Philadelphia. It’s the only one the owner and myself have seen and I’ve worked-on and seen a TON of old Weymann gear. It sounds much better in the video than it does in person — the low C string is quite quiet in person and that’s why I recorded this “as-found” because after I fix it up a bit more I’ll be restringing it as an octave mandolin instead and that will suit the response of the instrument far better. This is just to satisfy the curious folks who will ask, “what’s it sound like in C…?” Anyhow, it’s a glorious instrument, extraordinarily-rare, beautifully-made, and has had some excellent old repair work done to make it much more of a modern instrument playability-wise. Still, the setup at the moment is rather horrendous, so please don’t knock me too many points for the shaky playing…
