SLJEME is the name of the highest peak of MEDVEDNICA (also known as ZAGREBAČKA GORA), but most people refer to the entire mountain by that name..as the heart of skiing in ZAGREB, it sits just a short 25-minute drive from our home.. along with us, this is where generations of local skiers took their first turns - including some of the world’s best, like JANICA and IVICA KOSTELIĆ, and more recently, ZRINKA LJUTIĆ, who just claimed the small CRYSTAL GLOBE.. unfortunately, like many lower-altitude ski resorts, SLJEME has struggled with weak winters and a lack of natural snow.. additionally, in the summer of 2023, a powerful storm swept through the entire ZAGREB area, including MEDVEDNICA/SLJEME, severely damaging the only chairlift and putting the main CRVENI SPUST (which translates to RED SLOPE - despite its name, actually a black diamond run) out of action.. after avoiding it for the past few seasons, we finally decided to give it another shot - no expectations, just a quick ride up to see if it’s still worth it.. was it a hit or a miss?..watch and find out!.. 💡 FUN FACTS: ▶️ How many capital cities worldwide can boast a ski resort just 30 minutes from the city center?..well, ZAGREB is one of the rare ones – even though it struggles with (unpredictable) weather!.. ▶️ It’s said that if you can ski at SLJEME, you can ski anywhere..despite being a small resort, SLJEME offers some of the most challenging runs – especially the CRVENI SPUST (translated as RED SLOPE) and the lower 2/3 of the ZELENI SPUST (translated as GREEN SLOPE), which is actually a pure RED run in disguise!.. ▶️ ZAGREB is the only capital city in the world to have hosted FIS WORLD CUP ski races for both men and women!..the famous "SNOW QUEEN TROPHY" races take place on SLJEME, a mountain towering above the city.. hopefully, we'll see them again soon once the new four-seater chairlift is built!.. enjoy our video..and don’t forget: s.m.u.k..😉 #outdoors #outdooradventure #wintersports #naturelovers #outdooractivities #snowy #sun #adventure #red #slope #family #carving #edge #angle #skilift #ski #lift #tricks #winter #zima #skiing #sljemeskiresort #zagreb #croatia #hrvatska #nature #gopro #sljemeski #skijanje #gletscher #greenslope #zelenispust
