Motivation is inner force which directed toward a goal. These are innate or learned. There are four types of motives— Physiological motives—hunger need, thirst need, respiratory, rest/sleep need, need of elimination. Social motives—Affiliation motives, needs for status, power motive, social approval Personal motives--- Achievement motive, Aspiration motive, Curiosity motive, Fear motive.. Unconscious motive— Theories of motivation— 1. Instinct theory of motivation—born with preplanned behavior 2. Push and drive theory--- Behavior pushed towards goal 3. Freud’s psychoanalytical theory—life and death two instincts 4. Incentive theory 5. Goal oriented/ cognitive 6.
