CAMOOWEAL QUEENSLAND - POST OFFICE HOTEL MOTEL & CARAVAN PARK

We are on the next leg of our journey heading towards Townsville QLD travelling along the Barkly Highway in our Red Centre Caravan and our two little dogs, Dola and Papa. In this episode we cross the border from Northern Territory into QLD and stop at a small Caravan Park called the Post Office Hotel Motel & Caravan Park in a place called Camooweal. This part of the journey is a real eye opener to just how vast and unpopulated Australia really is. There were no homesteads, no trees, no buildings, no dead animals no other vehicles except one and no mobile phone service for hundreds of kilometres. Even though we are travelling on a major highway you really need to be prepared if you have an emergency and have some form of communication so you can contact emergency services. The alternative is to wait for someone to drive by and hope they stop and are able to assist. The caravan park was small but well laid out, powered sites had water hook up and were completely full by late afternoon.
