In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Rajapaksa said the discussion focused on the government's failure to fulfil its promises and the key issues the opposition intends to highlight at the rally. Although ITAK will not be participating in the protest, Rajapaksa said it was important to keep the party informed as it remains a key element of the opposition. Both leaders also agreed on the need to hold the long-delayed provincial council elections without any further postponement.
