Shunchang Road started in the late Qing Dynasty and was originally named Caishi Road. In the early period (from the 1920s), a large number of immigrants from other provinces moved in, and their native place was mostly from northern Jiangsu. At that time, small workshops were all over the area, mainly for knitting, printing and dyeing. Because of the prosperity of small workshops, Shunchang Road was the main commercial street in the area at that time, with 29 shops, among which the famous Datong Nanhuo Store.
