Rouse Hill is a New Community and Town Centre located on a commuter rail line in Sydney’s northwest growth corridor developed by Lend Lease/GPT Group in partnership with New South Wales state-owned Landcom Corporation. CIVITAS Studio prepared the Master Plan for the overall community and the Master Plan Development Application and Guidelines for the core Town Centre development . Guided by a vision to create a ‘complete community,’ the plan seamlessly integrates work, living, and play into a liveable, compact and walkable community. Rouse Hill consists of four residential neighbourhoods surrounding a unique mixed-use Town Centre. The Town Centre is a benchmark for new town centres, seamlessly blending commercial, residential, education, civic, and retail into a format that delivers not only a high level of public domain, but also a commercially successful proposition. The center combines the traditional streetscape of a contemporary town with community spaces and the convenience of the latest shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Rouse Hill Town Centre is one of Australia’s first regional shopping centers to demonstrate a comprehensive approach to sustainability. After its first year of operation, the complex reduced its ecological footprint by 32 percent.
