This week, I'm trying to scale up my new favourite shape, a tall stoneware bowl made with a pedestal-like foot and curvaceous walls. It's potted thickly as the plan is to trim the shapes back to be more angular once leather hard, this way, the vessels have both curved walls and an angular exterior—the bests of both worlds. I'm dying to fire these! Thanks as always for watching and let me know what you think! 📖 • ORDER MY BOOK: https://geni.us/bymyhands 🏺 • You may also be interested in my 'A Beginner's Guide' series, which you can find here: • How to Throw a Pot — A Beginner's Guide Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction 1:30 - Preparing my clay, mixing soft reclaim and hard stuff from a bag 2:34 - Centring the 4 kg lump of clay 3:23 - Opening up the bowl & pulling up the walls 6:28 - Indenting the rim & scraping off slip 8:48 - Quickly drying the bowls 9:14 - Fixing a wavering rim 10:41 - Trimming the exterior shape to be angular 11:52 - Trimming a deep foot 13:40 - The finished bowl, (for now) 15:03 - Cutting a failed bowl in half 15:48 - Clean up • Find out much more via the link below! https://linktr.ee/floriangadsby • Get in touch here: https://www.floriangadsby.com/contact Sign up to my newsletter here: https://www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter
