Huge crowds in Israel and Gaza have been celebrating the agreement on US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, which calls for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all Israeli hostages and many Palestinian prisoners. Israel’s government has been meeting to approve the agreement with Trump saying hostages will be released on Monday or Tuesday next week. Israel continued to drop bombs on Gaza during the day with Hamas saying that dozens of civilians were killed. Israel’s Foreign Minister said a ceasefire would come into effect as soon as it has been formally approved by his government. The first phase of a deal was signed by Israel and Hamas in Egypt where negotiations have been taking place. Under the terms of President Trump’s 20-point peace plan, a ceasefire and release of hostages and prisoners will be followed by the delivery of large quantities of aid to Gaza, to relieve the humanitarian crisis there. Senior Hamas figures say they have received guarantees from the US and mediators involved in peace talks with Israel that "the war has completely ended".
