In Excel, the VLOOKUP function is a very useful function that allows you to look for a value in a specific column of a table and return a corresponding value from the same row in another column. This function is widely used to search for data in large data sets or reference tables. For example, suppose you have a table of employees with their names in the first column and their salaries in the second column. If you want to find the salary of a specific employee, say "John", you could use the VLOOKUP function like this: =VLOOKUP("John", A1:B100, 2, FALSE) The VLOOKUP (Vertical Lookup) function and the HLOOKUP (Horizontal Lookup) function are both used to look up a value in a table and return a corresponding value. The main difference between them is the direction in which they search the table. VLOOKUP (Vertical Lookup): This function searches vertically, that is, along the columns. It is used when the value to be searched for is in the first column (left column) of the table and the value to be returned is in some other column in the same row. The XLOOKUP function allows you to look up a value in a column or row (vertically or horizontally) and return a corresponding value from another column or row, respectively. Therefore, it can be used to perform both vertical search functions (similar to VLOOKUP) and horizontal search functions (similar to HLOOKUP), and it even has some additional advantages over the older functions. Some of the benefits of the XLOOKUP function include: Ability to look up values in any direction (vertically or horizontally).
