Note: My cannon universe is one in which Alistair agreed to take part in the Dark Ritual at the behest of his fellow Grey Warden. He is now the King of Ferelden, and rules with the Hero as his queen. Alistair continues to honor his commitment to the Grey Wardens (as he did in Origins), despite his title, and in times such as these asks the former Arl Eamon to act as his Regent. Thus, Warden Alistair and King Alistair are one-in-the-same, despite Bioware's insinuation to the contrary over Dragon Age's last two installments. Additional Note: I recognize Origins as the canon seed from which the entire series continues to grow. I DO NOT consider any of the novels to be legitimate, as they hold nothing but contrived plot twists that make absolutely NO SENSE. At best, they can be considered poorly-written fanfictions that try to exploit minor plot holes for the sake of generating unnecessary angst. So, anything that contradicts the original story (Alistair being the son of an Orlesian elven mage, Alistair having dragon blood because of an ancient pact that King Calenhad made with a dragon, etc.) effectively doesn't exist in my Dragon Age universe. Alistair is as he always was - the sweet, sexy, witty bastard son born of King Marric and a serving girl at Redcliffe Castle. The Grey Warden who helped bring the Fifth Blight to an end. The king who rules Ferelden alongside the woman who became a Hero. The last thing Alistair needs is to become even MORE complicated as a character. And frankly, the guy's been through enough! He doesn't deserve the inevitable turmoil that arises when he's stretched beyond those normal boundaries.
