Gonorrhea (Neisseria Gonorrhea) | Pathophysiology, Symptoms & Complications, Diagnosis, Treatment Neisseria Gonorrhea is a bacteria that is an important cause of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), causing Gonorrhea which is also known as “The Clap”. Not only does it cause STIs, it can also cause other important infections, including conjunctivitis. Neisseria Gonorrhea infects mucous membranes, infiltrating and invading into epithelial cells. Invasion into epithelial cells leads to particular findings, including purulent discharge.
