Exploring Joe Morello's Master Studies Part 2- Drum Set Applications

Here is Part 2 of a series of videos demonstrating how I use Joe Morello's book Master Studies in my everyday practicing. In this lesson we go to the drum set to explore the exercises in the book while playing ostinatos with the feet. This type of practice is invaluable for building coordination between the hands and the feet in several genres, most notably when playing Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music. Pages 37-38 of my book Advanced Coordination for Drum Set and Hand Percussion are used as foot ostinatos while playing several sections of the Morello book. I highly recommend that you watch my first Master Studies video before you embark on these exercises. That video can be found here:    • Exploring Joe Morello's Master Studies   For this video the drums used are 1983 Gretsch Centennial. The Sizes are: 18"x14" bass,10",12",14" toms and a 14"x6.5" snare. The cymbals in this video are all 1950's K Zildjian with a Paiste 22" swish. There are calf heads on the snare drum and bass drum and Remo coated ambassadors on the toms.
