Discreetly positioned at the highest point of its plot, the house minimizes volumetric impact and instead asserts its presence through an elongated footprint that stretches across the open landscape. The roof becomes the project’s “fifth façade,” carefully composed to integrate skylights and solar panels while remaining visually disciplined. A continuous green roof extends the surrounding lawn, enhancing thermal performance and reinforcing the building’s relationship with the terrain. Structurally, the house rests on a rigid slab directly supported by cross-shaped steel columns arranged along three modular axes—a refined homage to Mies van der Rohe’s structural clarity and proportional elegance. Beneath this floating plane, two programmatic volumes organize the home: one dedicated to service areas, gym, TV and playrooms; the other housing five en-suite bedrooms. Living spaces anchor both extremities and dissolve entirely through sliding glass doors, transforming the residence into an expansive terrace. A winding brick wall, composed of solids and voids, reinterprets the traditional boundary—at once protective and permeable, concave and convex—filtering light dynamically throughout the day. Planar House demonstrates how restraint, structural rigor, and material tactility can coexist in a powerful yet understated architectural statement.
