This lesson introduces Frii’s transmission equation, which is a simple formula for calculating the ratio of power received to power transmitted, for a two-antenna system. It makes a few simplifying assumptions, but is always a good place to start when calculating antenna system gain. It allows calculation of the best-possible transmission, given the physical limitations of the system.
