Riding VIA's Saguenay Montreal to Jonquière 3 October 2007

VIA's "Saguenay" to Jonquière (#601) and "Abitibi" to Senneterre (#603) leave Montreal as a single train and travel about 140 miles to Hervey Jonction where they are re-arranged into two trains. Since this trip, they often travel as a J train. Each train usually consists of a coach and baggage car but more coaches may be added when traffic volumes require. On this occasion #603 had two coaches because of a large group that boarded at Shawinigan. We see views of Montreal especially the Lachine area, CN Tascherau & CP St-Luc yards and then view the fall colours of rural Quebec farms as we travel to Garneau, Shawinigan & Hervey. From here we travel through an area of rivers, lakes and trees with their fall foliage until we arrive at Lac St-Jean and travel to Jonquière.
