This week on the Horti-Culturalists we're taking a trip to Manhattan to visit one of the most beautiful gardens on the island! The Bonnefont Cloister Herb Garden is part of The Met Cloisters museum and well worth the trip to the top left corner of Manhattan! This wonderful spot is a recreation of a medieval monastic garden set within the incredible landscape of Fort Tryon Park. There are herbs, dye plants, incredible espalier and a quartet of fabulous trained quinces. You can find out more about the museum and gardens here: https://www.metmuseum.org/about-the-m... Matthew was lucky enough to meet the chief arborist of the gardens who manages the espaliers amongst everything else, Fran Reidy, and you can find out more about her here: https://cowbell-grasshopper-yer3.squa... We'll also look at a fabulous tree in Wave Hill garden: https://www.wavehill.org/ And one in the New York Botanical Garden: https://www.nybg.org/ Many thanks to the wonderful gardeners at the Met Cloister garden and particularly Fran Reidy for her time. The plants we mention in this video are: Isatis tinctoria - woad Aquilegia Humulus lupulus - hop Fagus sylvatica 'purpurea tricolor' Pterocarya stenoptera
