Built on the foundation of the CL, the CL-XL now uses the widely available 12-gram CO2 cartridge while adding just over three-quarters of an inch to the overall length. Launching rounds at 410 feet per second, the larger cartridge increases the operational capacity of the launcher to 17 rounds. One of the best upgrades is that the CL-XL includes Byrna’s new .61 caliber, seven-round magazines. These completely re-engineered magazines allow the user to load seven plus one, for a total of eight rounds in the launcher. We’ve also engineered a compartment inside each magazine to store a hex key for use with the CO2 end cap, ensuring you always have a way to make sure your launcher is ready. The larger magazine increases grip surface area, giving shooters with bigger hands better purchase on the launcher—improving shootability and increasing the likelihood of solid hits when it matters most. The CL-XL shares many of the same features as its predecessor, including upgraded fiber optic sights for quick target acquisition, a loaded chamber indicator, a front universal Picatinny rail for mounting lasers and white lights, and a red dot–ready slide that allows you to install Byrna’s own red dot system, as well as many popular red dots currently on the market. And of course, like all Byrna pistol launchers, the CL-XL features Byrna’s patented pull-pierce technology, allowing the launcher to remain in a ready state indefinitely without losing pressure, since the cartridge is not pierced until the first trigger pull.
