Faith was never meant to be hidden. The gospel was never meant to be muted. From the very beginning, the message of Jesus has been public, powerful, and unapologetic. In this message, The Power in Witness, we walk through Romans 1:16 and confront a tension many believers feel but rarely name: the pull between bold faith and silent fear. Paul reminds us that the gospel isn’t something to be ashamed of because it isn’t weak, outdated, or dependent on our delivery. It is the very power of God for salvation. This sermon challenges us to examine where fear has replaced boldness and where we’ve prayed for opportunities but hesitated when God actually answered. The gospel doesn’t need better wording, perfect timing, or polished delivery. It needs willing witnesses who trust that God does the transforming. If Jesus wasn’t ashamed to be publicly associated with us, then the question becomes simple and personal. Who are we living to please? And what is our faith costing us? Scripture References Romans 1:16 Matthew 10:33 Romans 10:14 Hebrews 12:2 Key Themes The gospel and shame cannot coexist Boldness flows from conviction, not personality The gospel is the power of God, not just information Obedience is our role, transformation is God’s The gospel is for everyone who believes Silence has eternal consequences Paul’s confidence didn’t come from courage alone. It came from experience. He had tasted and seen the power of the gospel at work in his own life and in the lives of others. When you realize what the gospel has done for you, silence stops being an option. The gospel breaks chains. It restores lives. It saves hearts. And it still works today. Jesus endured public shame so that we could walk in freedom. He didn’t shrink back. He didn’t hide. And He isn’t asking us to either.
