Biscuits are a cheap and easy bread to make for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. These are a family favorite for sure. They are a nice treat from the whole wheat drop biscuits in the Sausage Gravy video. Many thanks to my friends, the Berg girls, for reminding me about layering biscuits. Pantry items: 2 cups unbleached AP flour (all-purpose) 2 ½ Tbsp baking powder (non-Aluminum) ¼ cup powdered milk 4 Tbsp unsalted butter Milk (see below) Seasonings: ¼ tsp Himalayan sea salt Tools: Greased griddle, measuring cups and spoons, fork, bowl, small bowl, pastry brush, bread board, glass with small opening (about 2 inches) Simple instructions. 1) Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. 2) Melt approximately 2 Tbsp butter in a small bowl and set aside. 3) Put flour, baking powder, powdered milk, and salt into a bowl. 4) Add 4 Tbsp unsalted butter. 5) Use a fork to break butter apart into small butter balls until completely incorporated into the flour. 6) Mix well. 7) Add milk slowly, approximately 1/8 cup at a time. Mix well. 8) Add milk in increments until flour starts to clump together and forms a ball. 9) The dough is ready when it forms a ball, and starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl. 10) Flour breadboard liberally. 11) Dump dough ball onto floured breadboard. 12) Slowly start to work the dough by pulling and folding the dough on itself. Flatten to about ½ inch. 13) Brush with butter 14) Repeat steps 12 and 13 three or more times (Fold, flatten, and brush with butter). *NOTE: Watch that your dough doesn’t stick to your bread board, and add more flour underneath the dough if necessary. 15) On the last fold, flatten out to about ½ inch thickness. 16) Flour the opening of the glass cup, and use it to cut biscuits from the dough. Insert the cup into the dough and twist slightly to release the biscuit from the breadboard. Re-flour glass in between each biscuit cutting. 17) Take remaining dough, and refold, butter, and re-cut with the glass cup until all dough has been cut into biscuits. NOTE: You can butter or oil the top of the biscuits for a golden brown biscuit, or leave plain 18) Put biscuits in oven for approximately 7–10 minutes, or until as golden brown as you like them. 19) Remove from oven. Serve hot with your favorite topping. Kitchen Hack: How to care for your breadboard. After washing, dry thoroughly with a clean towel, and set on its end to dry. #cookinwithEagleEye #inthekitchen #homemadefood #homemadecooking #learningtocook #homemadebiscuits #homemadebreadrecipe #homemadebread
