Welcome to season 6 of the Sisters In Conversation podcast. In today’s episode I am in Conversation with Tiisetso Mthembu who is General Counsel at a Multinational Corporation. We spoke about her upbringing with a specific focus on how Tiisetso lost her mom to HIV at a time when there was so much stigma around the disease and how losing her mom lead her into a series of traumatic experiences. Tiisetso’s story is a true testament to her resilience because in the face of adversity she continued to push on academically and actively worked her way out of a life of poverty. I am so inspired by today’s conversation and I am reminded of the phrase: “When you put everything in God’s hands, You will see God’s hand in everything”. Tiisetso’s bio: Tiisetso Mthembu, formerly known as Rapasa, is the General Counsel for Africa at a Multinational Corporation. With an extensive and diverse skillset acquired over years of dedicated practice, Tiisetso excels in strategic thinking, business acumen, negotiation and persuasion, interpersonal skills, risk management, leadership, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking.   Tiisetso holds an LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, where she earned a Dean's List Merit Award and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society. As an admitted legal practitioner, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, ensuring that legal and regulatory frameworks are seamlessly integrated into business strategies.   Tiisetso is highly proficient in drafting a wide array of commercial contracts, a skill that demands a blend of strategy, attention to detail, and adaptability. Her experience spans multiple industries, including FMCG (Confectionery, Pharmaceuticals), Waste Management, COIDA, and currently Liquor Manufacturing and Distribution. Known for her fierce and tough negotiation skills, Tiisetso effectively advocates for the businesses she represents.   Outside of her professional life, Tiisetso is a devoted wife and mother. Her two-year-old daughter and six-year-old son keep her on her toes 24/7, adding to the many hats she wears and enriching her life with joy and adventure. She enjoys the dynamic and fulfilling experience of balancing her career with her family responsibilities.   Tiisetso is passionate about dogs, particularly bully breeds. She enjoys attending dog shows and owns several dogs, with plans to expand her canine family further. Her love for discovering new restaurants and exploring diverse cuisines fuels her adventurous spirit.   Tiisetso is currently contemplating furthering her education by either pursuing a master's degree in corporate law or preparing for her notary exams, demonstrating her continuous commitment to professional growth and excellence.
