Gangoni is a natural canyon situated near the town of Garhbeta, in the Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal. Gangoni, also known as the The Grand Canyon of West Bengal How to reach: Gangoni is easily accessible from Kolkata by both road and rail. You can either take a road trip or cover the distance on a scenic train ride. By road: If u want to Drive/ride down to the 'Grand Canyon of West Bengal, then take the NH6 from Kolkata all the way to Uluberia via Bagnan. From there you can take two different routes, either go towards Chandrakona Town via Ghatal or Salboni via NH60. Gangani is just a few kilometers from either of the towns. Route: 1. Kolkata – NH6 – Bagnan – Uluberia – Kolaghat – Mecho Gram – Ghatal - Chandrakona Town – Garhbeta 2. Kolkata – NH6 – Bagnan – Uluberia – Kolaghat – Karagpur – NH60 - Godapiasal - Salboni– Garhbeta By train: The nearest town to Gangoni is Garhbeta, which has its own railway station. All you need to do is board the Rupashi Bangla Express from Satragachhi Station at Howrah and get off at Garbeta Station after a few hours. Where to stay: There are some spartan lodging facilities at Garhbeta. Near Gongoni , close to Garhbeta College is a good restaurant named Suruchi. There is a roadside joint on the Main road , just at the place from where the read pathway to Gongoni Starts. Bishnupur has many lodging facilities including the West Bengal Government Tourist Lodge.
