The fun part about it, is that right at the end (SPOILERS INC.) for a brief period, everyone, even Russia, had left the Soviet Union EXCEPT Kazakhstan. Gotta give it to them for their dedication. Then Kazakhstan left on December 16th 1992- but the Soviet bureaucracy still existed, only voting itself out of existence on December 26th!
