We traveled through Wakayama, Japan on a 2-night, 3-day road trip and discovered some of the most breathtaking and unexpected places we’ve ever seen. Our journey begins with a visit to a famous tuna restaurant, where we enjoyed fresh, never-frozen bluefin tuna — rich, delicate, and unforgettable.From there, we headed deep into the mountains to witness the power of Nachi Falls, one of Japan’s most sacred waterfalls. Standing before it was truly overwhelming. We then visited Kumano Nachi Taisha, a UNESCO World Heritage shrine surrounded by ancient forests.On the second day, we explored the mysterious Hashigui-iwa rock formations, followed by the white limestone cliffs of Shirasaki Ocean Park, which felt more like Europe than Japan. As the day came to an end, we watched the sunset from Ikoma Plateau, where the sky turned gold and red — a moment we will never forget. On the final day, we visited Saikazaki Fishing Port, often called “the Amalfi Coast of Japan,” and finished our trip with a bowl of authentic Wakayama ramen.
