By Mwamba Makonde Zambia Swimming Union - ZASU- successfully hosted the 2025 National Age Group Championships over the weekend at the OYDC Zambia Pool in Lusaka. The tournament saw Torpedoes Swim Club dominate the event with 1,543 points, while Kapentas finished second with 881.5 points and Orcas claimed third place with 853 points. Several national records were shattered during the competition with SUWILANJI NJOVU setting a new record in the Girls Under-7 category, while TAMIKA NJOVU and NAMWEZI MULLIGAN broke the Under-9 and Under-10 girls' records. CHISI MAGUBWI made history in the Girls Under-12, with SIBONGILE MITI smashing the Girls Under-14 record. On the boys' side, KEVIN HAABAZOKA set a new national record in the Under-7 category, while ASHER LUNGU and AARYAN DESAI also rewrote the record books in the Under-9 and Under-16 categories, respectively. Speaking to ZNBC Sport, ZASU Vice President SAASA SHAMAMBO said over 240 swimmers participated. He said the championship is a key platform for developing young swimmers.
