When it released in 2008 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, it was a revelation of entertainment, offering the freedom to explore a beautifully crafted, richly detailed post-apocalyptic world filled with thoughtful stories and exciting characters. Playing it for the first time was an announcement to my soul that the perfect game does exist. Critics and fans of the time agree. I want to revisit Fallout 3, specifically its main quest, and find out if it's a masterclass of worldbuilding and game design or an overhyped relic of the past.
