What does it take to grow food in sub-zero conditions? In the remote village of Kesar (Changthang), Ladakh, winter temperatures drop to –30°C. Farming here was once thought impossible. In fact, most men have migrated in search of work. The women stayed behind to raise the family. In 2023, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST, Jammu) introduced polyhouse farming to the region, training women to grow vegetables in controlled environments even during the harshest winters. This film follows the journey of women in Kesar village who are now growing spinach, peas, and other vegetables in one of the coldest inhabited places on Earth. This is not just a story of agriculture. It’s a story of grit, dignity, sisterhood, and quiet revolution. These women are feeding their families, earning livelihoods, and reclaiming their land - like true daughters of the soil.
