Ephesians 2:1-7 | Week 1 | Pastor Jamie Rasmussen When life feels broken and our hearts feel restless, we’re tempted to believe we can fix ourselves. This message confronts the truth that we're not just weak or prone to mistakes, but spiritually lifeless. Yet in Jesus, we find grace that meets us at our lowest and offers us new life, even when we have nothing to bring in return. It’s the kind of grace that invites us home, to a place marked by forgiveness, purpose, and hope. 00:00 – Annoucements 02:45 – Chapter’s Video: Rustin’s Story 17:04 – Greetings 18:15 – SONG // I Thank God by Aaron Moses 22:00 – SONG // Ask Seek Pray by River Valley Worship 26:47 – The Sermon Message "THE PRELUDE TO GRACE" from Senior Pastor Jamie Rasmussen 30:58 – Grace exists primarily because of our sin. 33:53 – (ESV) Romans 5: 20 …but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more. 35:21 – 1. Sin extends beyond our bad behavior – it is rooted in our nature. 35:46 – (ESV) Ephesians 2: 1-3 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 42:45 – 2. Sin separates everyone from God. 44:43 – (ESV) Ephesians 2: 1, 5 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins… 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses… 47:44 – “There are three basic theologies in the world. Apart from Jesus Christ you are either: (1) sick, (2) weak, or (3) dead. If you are sick, you need to self-medicate. If you are weak, you can fix yourself with a little help and spiritual exercise. If you are dead, you can do nothing. You need divine intervention.” – Dr. John Gerstner 49:41 – (ESV) Ephesians 2: 4-7 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 52:22 – 3. Grace leads us home – to a reconciled relationship with God. 1:09:42 – Final words of encouragement 👍 Like, Subscribe, and leave an encouraging comment (1 Thessalonians 5: 11).
