Date filmed: 09/01/2023 Videos filmed at: 12:25 | 12:31 Route: Branch Line to Barrington Cement Works Closest timing point: Foxton Exchange Sidings GBRf (on Real Time Trains) Location: Foxton Road, Foxton Trains featured: Activation 1 (0:00): Class 66 (GBRf) - 0:48 Barrington Pad GBRf ➡ Willesden Euroterminal GBRf - Activation 2 (Starts at 3:10): Class 66 (GBRf) - 3:55 Willesden Euroterminal GBRf ➡ Barrington Pad GBRf Featuring: @UKLCSandT Two class 66s serving the cement works at Barrington are seen trundling very slowly across this un-gated level crossing just outside of Foxton, with each train taking as much as around two minutes to pass! This level crossing is manually-operated from a nearby cabinet by crossing attendants, who turn up when a train is due and check that all the lights on both sides are working before telling the driver it's safe to proceed via a walkie-talkie. Trains can be seen approaching from both directions before the level crossing is activated. A few trains per day use the fairly short line from Foxton to the cement works at Barrington, proceeding along the line very slowly. The line is an okay place to catch freight trains at the start or end of their journey, but none of them will be moving very quickly. As for equipment, this level crossing has four 'Pike' wigwags / road traffic lights, each with a St. Andrew's Cross above it. There are no alarms here, and it can also be noted that the bulbs in each of these modules are now LEDs retrofitted into the wigwag, a fairly recent modification. Thanks for watching!
