Route: https://explore.osmaps.com/route/2669... Description: Beginning in Hartsop we work our way up the steep fell side which will give us most of our height for the day. Rounding off in the upper section we soon reach our first Wainwright of the day Hartsop Dodd. Then it is a steady walk with great views and a steady incline to Stony Cove Pike, also known as Caudale Moor. This gives excellent views or Windermere to the South and the nearby Kentmere Horseshoe. Once summiting our second Wainwright we head over to the most technical section, The descent and ascent to Thornthwaite Crag. Whilst a little testing, this section is relatively short and soon we are on to Thornthwaite Crag with its distinctive summit column. From here, the walk over to Gary Crag is very simple. Although the highest point is on the second rise, the Wainwright summit is towards the North and we will pass both. With our 4 Wainwrights complete and Hayeswater appearing at our side, the descent is steady at first before a steeper but stable section which eventually joins a track. Crossing over Hayeswater Gill, we follow it down to the car park and start point. This walk has some of the best views in The Lake District. What a place!
