Picking up from the last episode, we come across the sheriff’s truck once again—still in perfect condition. No scratches, no dirt, as if it had never been abandoned in the woods at all. Taped to its side is a cryptic note instructing us to say "the light" into the walkie-talkie. The voice on the other end tells us to turn on the headlights, and the moment we do… night instantly shifts to day. But in the Black Hills Forest, light doesn’t always bring safety. Continuing our search, we make a grim discovery—a shallow grave containing the lifeless body of Sheriff Emmett Lanning, murdered in cold blood. A chilling tape reveals the moments leading up to his death and provides us with the murder weapon, but more questions arise as the forest twists even further out of control. As we push forward, the landscape transforms into a swampy nightmare, an oppressive and disorienting hellscape that sends Ellis spiraling. His mind fractures under the weight of the horrors around him, and in a desperate panic, he runs aimlessly through the marsh, haunted by the past and the darkness closing in. Through the madness, we come upon a massive, ancient tree—our only way forward. Descending into its underground tunnels, we are tormented by a ghostly female voice whispering through the shadows, leading us deeper into the unknown. With every step, reality unravels further, but eventually, we find an escape… for now. The Black Hills Forest is only getting darker.
