South Africa Now | 18 March 2026 In today’s update, road closures, weather conditions, wildlife sightings and scenic views are captured from across the country. In the Western Cape, Meiringspoort is reported closed due to a rock fall between De Rust and Klaarstroom, affecting travel in the region. Rainy conditions are also seen in George, while coastal and city views include Muizenberg, Kalk Bay, Hermanus and Cape Town. Additional highlights include scenic views from Akkerkloof Dam in Knysna, the Cape 1000 Rally in Hermanus, and airport activity at Cape Town International Airport. Visitors also enjoy musical entertainment across the city. In Limpopo, road infrastructure is impacted as damage caused by flooding is reported, while rain continues in areas such as Leeupoort. In Mpumalanga, wildlife sightings include lions and elephants spotted in Kruger National Park. In KwaZulu-Natal, a hippo is seen roaming at night in St Lucia, while sportfishing activities take place along the coast. In the Eastern Cape, trucks are causing traffic delays along Old Grahamstown Road in Gqeberha, while additional scenic views are captured along the border of the Eastern Cape and Western Cape in the Central Karoo. In Gauteng, public transport activity is seen as the Gautrain passes through Pretoria Station. In the Free State, light rain is reported at Taibos Lifestyle Estate in Sasolburg. In the Northern Cape, powerful natural scenery is captured at Augrabies Falls.
