Did you miss the much-anticipated in-person return of the SDN Global Conference? Want to know what was discussed? What cool new tools were showcased? What service designers from all over the globe learned? Well, we've got you covered. The theme for this year’s Service Design Global Conference was Courage to Design for Good. The conference, in partnership with the SDN Danish Chapter and the Danish Design Center, focused on how the global Service Design community can establish the courage to set a different agenda both in the products and services we design and in our communities and organizations. As the world faces imminent and obvious challenges, both socially and environmentally, tough decisions lie ahead for everybody, our service design community included. We need the courage to push away from current trajectories, shaping a better tomorrow. A tomorrow that is more regenerative, more just, more resilient, more thriving—more good. A little bit about Jamin Hegeman (Co-organizer of the conference) Jamin Hegeman is VP of Design at Capital One and a leader in the global Service Design movement. In his role as vice president of the Service Design Network, he has been a vocal advocate for the discipline of design. At Capital One, Jamin is the Head of Experience Strategy, he is responsible for building design capabilities for a 600+ person design organization and transforming the culture of one of the largest and most visibly design-centric financial services firms. Jamin has worked with various businesses, including home loans, auto loans, investing, small businesses, and the Capital One Cafes. Jamin has helped the Service Design Network grow and influence thousands of designers and business leaders around the world through his leadership of the annual global conference. His work and ideas have appeared in the books, This Is Service Design Thinking and This Is Service Design Doing. He shares his knowledge and experience through speaking, writing, and teaching. Jamin holds a master’s degree in design from Carnegie Mellon University, and a bachelor of art degree in poetry writing from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a husband, dog owner, poet, soccer player, and home brewer.
