Pot Roast Recipe 1 blade or shoulder beef roast 1 litre of chicken, beef, or vegetable broth Olive oil 4 potatoes 3 carrots, celery sticks more of these vegetables or others like parsnips, turnip, zucchini 1 apple 2 tomatoes 1 onion 1 - 2 garlic cloves 1 tsp salt, pepper, italian seasoning 1/2 tsp or less mustard powder, herbes de provence 2 tbsp olive oil, balsamic vinegar, beef bovril, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce water if necessary 1.4 cup water 5 large spoons corn starch Put a little bit of olive oil in a pan and add the finely chopped onion and garlic, if desired, and saute for 2 minutes. Add the roast and sear for 2 minutes both sides of the roast. Put the roast in your slow cooker, onions, and garlic in the slow cooker. Wash peel and chop into large pieces the hard other vegetables. Wash and finely chop the apple and tomatoes. Add all the liquid ingredients and seasoning. Slow cook for 6 hours if your roast is at room temperature or 6.5 hours if it came from the fridge. Slowly add the corn starch mixture in small amounts followed by stirring until you have the desired thickness of sauce. Carve the roast, and serve.
