This has the advantage of redirecting airflow downward away from the microphone capsule instead of attempting to diffuse sound bursts like fabric filters do. Even very close vocal work will not allow popping or plosives to reach the mic, and the large openings in the metal screen allow vocal sound to pass through unobstructed and uncolored, preserving critical detail. While the most obvious application is recording vocals, I wouldn’t think twice about sending The Proscreen XL V2 to podcast cohosts. I can’t tell you how many times I have to correct cohosts who simply aren’t monitoring themselves at a high enough level to hear the egregious plosives they’re making. Plosive removal can be a tedious process (unless you have a solid plugin) but you can also damage your audio by running aggressive removal software. At $84.99 the Proscreen XL V2 isn’t cheap, but is easily worth the purchase. I haven’t been this impressed with an accessory since the Gator Frameworks quick release.
