Portroe in Harmony is a group of young adults and teens aged 13-22 years from Portroe in Co. Tipperary who have recorded a charity single and video which will be released online in aid of Portroe Camogie Club and the Children’s Health Foundation. We have a fantastic community in Portroe and the charity single will reflect our communities story through COVID 19 by coming together while staying apart! Together we aim to celebrate our young people who make Portroe a great place to live, our frontline staff and members of our community who helped to keep our village safe. We wish to acknowledge all ages within our community and across the world who took responsibility to keep each other safe during these times by coming together while staying apart! Two organisations very close to our hearts are the Children’s Health Foundation and Portroe Camogie Club. The Children’s Health Foundation is the unified children’s healthcare charity, which raises funds to support the vital, life-saving work that takes place every minute of every day in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres. Portroe Camogie club, many of us are members of the club and take great pride in representing our community in sports and making memories and friendships along the way! Portroe Camogie club is constantly trying to develop the club at underage and junior levels. The club provides a wonderful environment for children to grow and develop socially and connects many families to their community. Music and sport has always really brought us together in Portroe. This has been a fantastic opportunity for the girls who are involved in the local Camogie club , who have competed at County, Munster and All Ireland level in Scor na nog ballad group and have a great love of music and understand the value of being connected to their communities and supporting each other. We formed this group in a time of real uncertainty in the world with Covid 19 . We wanted to give this group of young girls the motivation and experience to become leaders in their community, by demonstrating their resilience, coming together while staying apart, supporting each other and to raise money for two organisations that mean a lot to the group and many people. On the 29th August we plan to have a community event “Picnic in the Pitch” which will feature live music performances from local acts in the build up to the release of the single on that day. We think our story will resonate with many communities across Ireland and the world. Link to donate: https://gofund.me/be84afd9
