OROSI

Orosi is a coming of age film about a boy eager to bond with his father who has fallen on hard times. It’s a story about making choices in a community of impoverished agricultural workers. Often times they cope with economic hardships through cockfighting/gambling and in this case the result is grim. Orosi is a blend of non-fiction documentary and fiction narrative that blurs the lines between the "real" and the "reel". A hybrid of sorts, utilizing non-professional actors and filmed on real locations instead of staged sets. Filmed similarly to the traditions of Italian Neorealist and Third Cinema films as well as similar methods and approaches of social realist painters. Shot on 16mm film with the Arri SR2.
