Someone replied to my article about withholding information in coaching - and they were absolutely right. ICF Core Competency 7.11 explicitly allows coaches to share knowledge. So what's the problem? The problem is in three words we often skip over: "without attachment."In this episode, I break down what it really means to share knowledge as a coach without creating dependency, becoming a consultant-in-disguise, or undermining your client's capacity to think for themselves. THE BIGGER CONVERSATION: This isn't about whether ICF allows knowledge sharing - it clearly does. This is about understanding the responsibility that comes with that permission. It's about the difference between building capacity and creating dependency. Between catalyzing insight and providing solutions. If you've ever felt that tension between wanting to help and wanting to honor the coaching relationship, this episode is for you. CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION: What's your experience with sharing knowledge in coaching? Where's the line for you? Drop a comment below - I read and respond to every one. And if this resonated with you, please share it with a fellow coach who might be wrestling with the same questions. ABOUT QUESTIONS ASKED: Questions Asked is a podcast for coaches who think deeply about their practice. We tackle the uncomfortable questions, examine the ethical grey areas, and have the conversations that don't happen in coach training programs. #coaching #ICF #leadershipcoaching #coachingethics #professionalcoaching #ICFcompetencies #agilecoaching #executivecoaching #coachtraining #leadershipdevelopment #coachingskills #coachingpractice #ethicalcoaching #coachingpodcast #questionsasked #ICFcredential #PCCcoach #MCCcoach #coachingsupervision #coachingcommunity #professionaldevelopment #coachingtools #organizationalcoaching #teamcoaching #coaching101 #coachingvsmentoring #coachingvsconsulting #sharingknowledge #coachingframework #coachingmethods #coachingwisdom #coachinginsights #coachingconversations
