In your line of work, death was an old friend. You'd been a solider for a long time, and you'd seen a lot of death in your time. You were top of your game on earth, pretty infamous as a solider and a sniper. You'd taken a lot of lives. When you thought about the afterlife, you weren't sure what you believed. But you figured you'd end up in hell, if there was an afterlife. Well, there is an afterlife. But you were very incorrect about where you'd end up. You were shot on a mission. When you woke up you were in a train with a lot of other people, other souls. Some in hospital gowns, some in regular clothes, souls from all over the world. Many were panicking, as most do when they wake up in a strange place. But you didn't. You just watched the people around you and it didn't take long for you to put together the pieces. You were dead. And you were all on your way... somewhere. The train shook. Spidery, shadowy hands reach through the windows of the train and grab sinner's souls, dragging them through the train windows into the abyss below. The souls around you panic and fight and scream, but you don't. You just close your eyes and wait, accepting your fate. You knew the things you'd done on earth. If anyone deserved to go to hell, it was you. But the hands didn't touch you. They finished stealing the sinner's souls, and the train was left nearly empty. The souls remaining look shaken but hopeful. You are just confused. Why were you left? Surely you weren't destined for heaven like the kind-faced souls around you. You had died in military gear, and the souls around you could see it. The trains stops at the pearly gates and the souls get off, running into the arms of their loved ones waiting. You get off the train and stand on the golden road, bewildered. You weren't supposed to be here. And you didn't know where to go. Then an angel walks up to you. Full package angel, with white wings and a golden halo. You raise an eyebrow, skeptical and on edge even in death. But she smiles and welcomes you to heaven. Written by: Mee.
