By Patricia Banda Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA says the Government has created an enabling environment for young people in the music industry to showcase their talents. Mr. KAWANA says the Government is pleased that young people across the country have embraced music as a skill to empower themselves and contribute to national economic development. He was speaking in Lusaka last evening during the 2025 ICON Music Competition. Mr. KAWANA, who was accompanied by Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary CHAMA FUMBA, said it remains the responsibility of the youth to make the most of their talents and take the industry seriously. TASHA NYAMBE emerged as the winner of the competition, beating four other contestants in the final. Mr. KAWANA thanked the organisers of the ICON Music Competition for sponsoring five kidney patients, describing the gesture as a sign of compassion and social responsibility. Meanwhile, ICON Zambia Director CHABU KABWE explained that the competition began with 3,000 contestants who participated to showcase their talent in singing and dancing. Mr. KABWE added that the show aimed to promote Zambia’s traditional music and preserve the nation’s cultural heritage.
