In this video we show you how to make butter from double cream. I have tried this with Elmlea and it didn't work because it is not a dairy cream - it is made from vegetable oils and buttermilk. The process of making butter from double cream starts by whisking double cream until it turns thick into whipped cream then as you keep on whisking it - the cream starts to separate into butter and buttermilk. Next you will need to separate the butter and buttermilk in different bowls so that you can use them individually. Before you can use the butter or store it - you will need to clean it with cold water and drain repeatedly until the liquid is clear. The final time, drain the water and add some salt to the homemade butter and it will stay fresher for longer in the fridge. Don't throw the buttermilk away because it has its uses, for example the butter milk can be used for marinating chicken, for use in coffee. It is more creamy than milk but less fatty than cream, in India people drink buttermilk with the addition of spices for a healthy drink.
