Welcome to Eurovision This Month. This is your update of May 2020. Even though the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 was cancelled, the host broadcasters from The Netherlands, the EBU and many member broadcasters made sure there was plenty of Eurovision going on in May. Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light was aired on 16 May and was watched by over 73 million viewers across 38 markets. The show was presented by Dutch hosts Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley and Jan Smit and honoured the artists and songs of 2020. The show also featured messages from former Eurovision stars as well as some very special performances. At the end of the show it was announced that the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place in Rotterdam. And that was not the only announcement. During the show, Viki Gabor, the most recent winner of Junior Eurovision announced the slogan and logo for the upcoming edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Move The World will be the theme for the show, which will take place in Poland’s capital Warsaw. Prior to Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light, two shows were aired on YouTube on 12 and 14 May. In the Eurovision Song Celebration shows, all songs were played out in full, in the running order that was made for the semi-finals by the producers of Eurovision 2020. Apart from that, the viewers were treated to some surprises along the way and fans from all over the world participated in the first ever fan-recaps! The Russian song for Eurovision 2020, Uno by Little Big reached a big milestone on tje Eurovision YouTube channel. The music video reached 100 million views, making it the fastest growing video in the history of the channel. Eurovision Home Concerts had its season finale on 15 May. During 7 episodes you were able to see performances from over 60 Eurovision artists.
