In the arid plains of Wagalla, just 10 kilometers west of Wajir town, a remarkable story of resilience is unfolding. Once remembered for the tragic Wagalla Massacre of 1984, this community is now redefining its future through innovation, climate adaptation, and women’s empowerment. In a modest corrugated iron shed, Somali women are producing what locals call “the sweetest natural yoghurt you’ll ever taste.” With support from the Wajir Women’s Council and OneStop Development Agency, they have turned a climate challenge—milk spoilage under extreme heat—into an opportunity for value addition and sustainable livelihoods. This initiative is more than a business. It is a story of survival, climate resilience, and the power of women leading change in northern Kenya. With solar-powered storage, better packaging, and market access, these women dream of scaling their yoghurt from Wagalla to supermarket shelves across the country. Watch this inspiring journey of healing, innovation, and hope rising from the shadows of history. 👉 Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to support more stories of resilience and community transformation. #ClimateChange #Wajir #WomenEmpowerment #Kenya
