Often falling in the shadow of the fabulous Angkor Wat, the Bayon temple of the neighbouring Angkor Thom, Cambodia is a breathtaking, richly-decorated Khmer Buddhist Temple built in the late 12th or early 13th century AD. It was the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist king Jayavarman VII, situated in the centre of his capital Angkor Thom. Now, there is controversy about the origins of this temple, recently discussed by Praveen Mohan on his very successful channel.
