Songs of Green Pheasant 'Sings The Passing' - 9/10 Uncut Magazine + 4 Stars from Mojo Magazine - Album Available Now! - https://rustedrail.bandcamp.com/album... 'Its seven tracks are rooted in the sort of acoustic music that’s these days commonly referred to as folk. But there’s an increasingly expansive and rules-freequality to Sumpner’s approach – a spirit of invention that sees songs augmented by unusual and startling effects, or come loose from their moorings and drift off into clouds of dreamy ambience. Think of Flying Saucer Attack at their most windswept and folksy, or imagine the seldom-trod midpoint between Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and William Basinski’s The Disintegration Loops and you’ll be at least pointing in the right direction...Sings The Passing finds him still evolving, the lo-fi sketches transforming into something deep, rich and symphonic.' - Uncut 9/10 review. "Reclusive Stockport dream-pop magus creates bedroom prog-folk opus. The last time MOJO reviewed a Songs Of Green Pheasant LP (2021’s When the Weather Clears) we rather grandly announced that SOGP’s key member, Duncan Sumpner, had made “the defining album of their career”, perhaps assuming that, after two decades in the game, Sumpner was closer to the end than the beginning of his art. The rough-hewn harmonic majesty of *Sings The Passing suggests we were completely wrong. With four songs running over seven minutes, this is a more discursive, expansive, ethereal work than WTWC, its edges rougher, its borders hazier. At times, it suggests a lost masterpiece of 90s Bristolian psychedelia, combining the moorland drones of Flying Saucer Attack with Crescent’s whispered lo-fi introspection. At other points it is uniquely and utterly itself, a mesmeric home-studio incantation of ghostly Northern pastoralism that hypnotises and beguiles in equal measure." - MOJO: 4 star review ============================================================================ Rusted Rail is proud to announce the release of a double A-sided digital single by Songs of Green Pheasant. https://rustedrail.bandcamp.com/album... 'Have Patience/Street of Mirrors' is the first new music from SOGP since the critically-acclaimed 2020 album 'When The Weather Clears', recipient of a 5-star review in Mojo magazine.
