How to run 1 mile or 1500m faster. This short but fast training work out will help you be more efficient and boost speed. Here, the Speed Secrets squad break the 1500m into two sets of short intervals; 800m, 60 seconds recovery, 700m, a five minute rest, then 600m, 500m 400m. The aim is to run 110 per cent of your race pace. Any level of runner can do a similar session. Run for 2.30, I min recovery, 2.00, five minutes recovery, then 1.45, 1.30, 1.00. Short (60 seconds / jog 100m) recovery between efforts helps you cope with the lactic acid build up and conditions your muscles to the increase in pace. It's perfect for faster sprinting at the end of races too. It's perfect for all events, from sprints to park runs and marathon. This is also a great session to calculate your fitness.
